Welcome to Port Hedland Primary School

Working together to encourage lifelong learning in an inclusive, safe and respectful environment.

Port Hedland Primary School is a Kindergarten to Year 7 co-educational school in the wonderful Pilbara region of Western Australia. Situated near the Indian Ocean in the suburb of Cooke Point, it is an oasis of academic endeavour, enthusiasm and community spirit amid the wild, red earth of the north west.

Message from the Principal

To all our visitors, welcome to the Port Hedland Primary School website. This website is the product of much work completed by many of our staff members and I thank them for their contributions and hope you enjoy exploring what this site has to offer.

The current Port Hedland Primary School was opened in 1998. It was rebuilt at this time as an amalgamation of the original Port Hedland Primary School and the original Cooke Point Primary School. As a result of this rebuilding, the school is modern, well resourced and set in beautifully maintained gardens. The school prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere and caters for approximately 400 students from Kindergarten to Year 7.

The school also offers a comprehensive curriculum with a focus on academic achievement. Teaching staff are young and enthusiastic, embracing new ideas to ensure that students have access to a high quality education utilising new technology. Each classroom is equipped with an electronic whiteboard and all classes have access to banks of iPads and computers.

In 2013, specialist Science, History, Visual Art and Physical Education programs will be offered at the school in addition to extension and remedial programs to target specific areas of literacy and numeracy. In addition, we are now using the smartphone app “Skoolbag” to enable parents to remain informed about school events via push notifications.

Fortescue Metals Group must be recognised for their generosity in allowing us to instigate and build this website.

Once again, welcome to our website, welcome to our school.
